In this newsletter, we will tell you about the services of the library to you at the beginning of your studies. Welcome to study at Karelia University of Applied Sciences!
Participation in Library Info
At the beginning of the studies, we organise sector-specific library infos for all starting student groups. In the info, we will tell you more about the library, its services and practices, and its benefits for students. In addition, we will give you tips on how to best get started with information searches. It is definitely worth taking part in the info!
Library on Tikkarinne Campus and online
Karelia UAS Library is located on Tikkarinne Campus (Tikkarinne 9). You can see all the library’s collections on our online library Karelia-Finna. To use the Karelia-Finna online library remotely, please log in Karelia-Finna with Karelia/Haka username & password.
Self-Service Library
Karelia UAS Library’s self-service library is open from Mon to Fri 7.30–20, even when the customer service desk is closed and there is no library staff present at the library. You can use self-service devices to borrow and return books. You can also use the library facilities to study. You can see all the service and opening hours from Karelia-Finna.
Note: 1) Tikkarinne Campus building E’s main door closes on Mon-Thu at 16.30 and on Fri at 15.30! 2) You must have a valid library card to borrow library materials at self-service library hours.
Library Card
The easiest way to get a library card to our library is to to take Tuudo’s digital library card in your use. Watch the Tuudo digital library card YouTube video. Remember to link the library account with Karelia-Finna >> Watch the guide video from Library’s YouTube channel for instructions.
Borrow and Return
You need to have a valid library card to borrow printed materials. There are two lending machines in your use at the library, you can borrow books by using one of those. You can return books either to the green return shelf (inside the library) or by using the automated book return machine (outside the library). When returning, you do not need a library card, and the books are automatically returned from your loans.
You do not need a library card to use electronic materials (databases, ebooks, ejournals). You can use them by logging in to Karelia-Finna with your own Karelia/Haka username and password.
Have a nice start with your studies, wishes Karelia UAS Library!
